the perfect holiday present for a beauty junkie : clarisonic mia 2

I finally received my Clarisonic Mia 2 in the mail a week ago, as an early Christmas present from the hubbs!  It's a step up from the original Mia.. and I couldn't have found the perfect design and deal for this one!

According to Clarisonic : Mia 2 is an extension of our popular Mia family that gives you all the benefits of sonic cleansing in a compact, easy-to-use style. Mia 2 features two speeds, a one-minute pulsing T-Timer® and a protective travel case for on-the-go sonic cleansing. Now you have more choices for beautiful skin.

I ordered mine from QVC since, at the moment, they are the only site that stocks the Black Leopard print design, which I just love!!  Plus they have it at an amazing value!  So if you are looking into getting this, I highly recommend the QVC package.

Back side of Mia 2

Sensitive brush head + QVC bonus of deep pore cleansing brush head!

I used it for the first time this week and I'm quite pleased with the results.   At the moment, my parched skin is quite happy with the sensitive brush head.  I'm glad the package also came with the deep pore cleansing brush head so I can change it out on days I need extra exfoliation.

if you are thinking of what to give your lady, mother, sister, friend, or whomever --
Opt for the Clarisonic Mia 2.. as no beauty junkie wouldn't want to find this under the Christmas tree!

*Disclaimer: This Mia 2 was purchased by my husband.. no compensation here folks!

nail polish of the day : the orly androgynie is quite galactic

A new nail polish love.. I knew I had to have this shade the moment I saw it.  I am after all, a lover of all things glitter.  I can describe Orly Androgynie as the perfect "Faint Blue Galaxy" in a bottle.

Faint Blue Galaxy as seen through a Hubble Telescope via Google

    Yes, such entities do exist..

Androgynie's base is not quite black.  In my opinion, it is more of a dark purple-brown, almost black,  and it is laced with various shapes and sizes of blue, teal, gold, pink, coral glitters.

Orly Androgynie is part of Orly's holiday collection.   I happen to pick up the last bottle from my local Sally's so check it out soon while you still can!

    clarisonic mia--aeeoowwww!

Just recently, Clarisonic ran a facebook contest to create your own design for the new Clarisonic Mia 2, and even though I didn't partake in the said art-related hoopla, I had an idea in my head as to what what my perfect Mia 2 would look like..

And what-da-ya-know.. the design team of Clarisonic had already made my life easier by taking the design and colorway out of my virtual drawing board!  Everything about it is just.. well.. ME!

The Clarisonic Mia 2 in Black/White Leopard is currently an exclusive to QVC... and yes, she will be mine.  I think.
Well, in that case, I better log off and start kneading more dough for Santa's snickerdoodle cookies!

sugar.. the rocco spice.. and everything nice!

Santa came crawling down the chimney early this year.. could it be the plate of snickerdoodle cookies I bake that he loves so much?

Either way, a big thank you to my sweet Santa for crossing this off my wishlist!  And making sure I got it before it flew off the shelves..

Bordeaux and reds lace this handbag in different depths, which make it even more special.  Do note that the flash has somewhat given the handbag a really shiny texture.  In person, the color is much deeper and a bit more matte.   I just adore it!

    Thanks again my Santa Baby!

And to see it in action, here is Lily Collins rocking this awesome color..

"it's the most wonderful time of the year...."

December may be my favorite month of all!  Christmas, after all, is the most exciting holiday for me.  And may I just add that I am also a Christmas Eve baby!  I really do think that it is the most wonderful time of the year -- as the song goes.

Call me crazy, but I am one to create virtual shopping carts and endless wish lists in December all the way to New Year's Eve.. hoping that Santa will amuse me with "double gifts".. I call it the Merry Birthday package.

With that said, I am hoping not to land the Naughty List with my incessant "Oh Santa, please please please do hit the Check Out button on my virtual shopping carts!"

    Welcome December!

    Giving Thanks and Winter Hibernation

So I am aware of my early winter hibernation from blogging.  But the main reason I did so, is the one I'm most thankful for this year.  My Family.  Also, my daughter started Kindergarten this Fall, and I wanted to give her a lot of attention and support as she enters this journey.

I am thankful everyday that I have my family and friends.  I am thankful for the early mornings when I wake up.  It just means life goes on for me.. and every day will bring new dreams that I look forward to fulfilling in the coming days, months and years.. for as long as I can see the break of dawn.

I may not have the world, but I sure am blessed.  And for that, I can not be any more thankful.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

The warm weather still lingers in California, but the nights do dip down to nippy temperatures.

notable mentions : clinique take the day off cleansing balm - amazing product!

Clinique The Day Off Cleansing Balm 3.8oz/125ml  $27.50 USD

I recently ran out of my DHC Oil Cleansers and decided to change gears up a bit and try this cleansing balm. Let me tell you, I wish I have tried this product sooner -- it is just amazing!

Ingredients (click on image to enlarge)

Texture: Balm form which turns into oil upon contact with skin.

You need the smallest amount to cleanse your face.  I use less than a dime-size, and it takes care of every trace of makeup, even waterproof eyeliner and mascara.

Putting it to the test with a waterproof eyeliner.

Rub the product all over the surface to be cleansed, until the makeup breaks down.

It really does dissolve waterproof products well.

I ran a cotton swab through it so you can see how you can easily remove the dissolved makeup.

I tissued-off the remaining of the product and the end result is just amazing.  There is not any trace of makeup left.  I then follow up with my usual face wash, the same way I do with my oil cleansers.

So if you're in the market for oil cleansers, especially those are are less-accessible, do give this one a try since they are readily available at almost all Clinique counters.  Overall, just an amazing product, and may even be better than most oil cleansers!

beauty wishlist - wanted: the perfect foundation

I'm thrilled to see that there are three foundations that are going to launch this Fall from my favorite lines:
Armani Designer Lift Foundation, Chanel Perfection Lumiere, and lastly, the bank-breaker that is called Tom Ford Traceless Foundation.  In my world, there is this relentless pursuit for the perfect base, and I'm hoping to run into it this Fall.. fingers crossed.

Guerlain never fails to bring the most desirable pieces during the Holidays.  I'm hoping to grab the Vol de Nuit Shimmer Powder for Face & Body, just look at how gorgeous the packaging is!  There's not one girl who wouldn't want to see that on her vanity.  Also, the Meteorites Perles de Nuit, these little sparkly balls never fail to entice me every year.

Lastly, the Chanel Holiday offerings always have something desirable, such as the Lumiere Sculpte de Chanel.  I know this is probably the third highlighter they brought in this year, but Chanel's attention to detail is sure to capture the hearts of palette collectors.  I'm also waiting to get a glimpse of this year's travel brush set, which I heard will be in the Euro version.

Happy First Day of Autumn!  Looking forward to what the season will bring us all!

bb cream bandwagon : lancome uv expert GN-shield bb base spf 50 pa+++

Lancome UV Expert GN-Shield High Potency Active Protection SPF 50 PA+++
    BB Base 50ml.

    Squeeze bottle - no pump

The texture is very creamy, not thick like most BB Creams.

    (No Flash)

The product spreads out easily and is very silky.

    (With Flash)

Notice that the product does not have any gray cast.

    (No Flash)

    The product blends out imperceptibly.

    (With Flash)

With a high sun protection factor of 50, expect a white cast in flash photography.

Overall, this is one of the more luxurious-feeling BB Creams I have tried (prior to Diorsnow, which I have yet to try).  The product is very silky and creamy and it applies effortlessly.  It sinks into your skin, as opposed to most BB Creams that tend to sit on the surface.  I didn't notice any gray-cast, nor did it leave my skin ghastly white.  The coverage is light to medium, buildable, but not to a full coverage.  It felt more like a tinted moisturizer to me.  The product goes on dewy but settles into a satin finish on my skin.  I do set it with powder.  Longevity is about 5-7 hours (depending on the weather), not a long-wearing BB Cream but it definitely wears comfortably on the skin.

This product is scented, pleasant in my opinion, but a deal-breaker for most.  If you're looking for a BB Cream that is not thick or heavy on the skin, I would recommend this one.  It is honestly one of the easiest BB Creams I have worked with -- it blends like a dream!

At the moment, this is an Asia-exclusive (and available at most Duty Free Shops), but I wouldn't be surprised if it soon makes it way into the U.S. market.
