summer essential: chanel hydramax + active teinte active moisture tinted lotion

When the summer months make foundations feel like cake batter on the skin, I opt for tinted moisturizers. My choice is the Chanel Hydramax + Active Teinte Tinted Lotion.  This tinted moisturizer has the benefits of the Hydramax skincare, and the buildable coverage makes it a win for me.  However, with the low sun protection factor of 15, I do prefer to wear this over a sunscreen of SPF50.

I have this in the medium shade 10 (Sable) Sand.  My Chanel foundation shades vary from Cendre 30 to Beige 40 depending on the season.  At the moment, I could get away with the lightest shade Sunlit, but Sable adds enough warmth to my skin, so I can skip the bronzer on those lazy days.  Chanel Hydramax + Active Teinte is available in 3 shades: Sunlit, Sand and Bronzelit.

Performance wise, this tinted moisturizer lasted a good 4 hours on me before I need to blot and touch up.  I have combination-oily t-zone and I found that compared to most tinted moisturizers, the finish is more satin than dewy.  In terms of coverage, I would say it is light to medium and buildable.  The redness around my nose is still somewhat visible and any blemishes will require a concealer.  The texture is rather thick as you can see, and for those with dry skin or dry patches, an additional moisturizer will be required.

Overall, this performed better for me than most of the other tinted moisturizers I have tried, including the La Mer tinted moisturizer.  I recommend this for those incidental sun exposures, but would add a higher sun protection lotion if I'm going to be out all day.  I think the biggest factor to consider is the price tag: $62 for a 1.35 fl. oz. tube.  There are other less expensive options out there, but most have broken me out.  I also love the Hydramax skincare line, so for me, this one's worth the splurge.
