going to the chapel and we're... (summer wedding ootd & fotd)

This past weekend, my brother-in-law and his beautiful fiancee got married.  It was lovely, and not to mention, there were no bridezillas involved!  She was just perfect all throughout.  Anyway, it was hot and humid that day and the ceremony started at 2pm and with the reception 'til about midnight.

I'd like to share what was in my arsenal that I carried in my little clear makeup bag : Chanel Mat Lumiere Foundation (decant - great summer foundation), Guerlain Meteorites pressed powder, Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel in Bronze Rose (bronzer, blush and highlight in a palette - love it), Clinique gel liner, YSL Faux Cils, MAC Hocus Pocus eyeshadow, MAC Wolf Pearlglide,  Tom Ford Lip Blend in Blush Nude (perfect nude lips for smokey eyes), Anna Sui Blotting Sheets and a small decant of Tom Ford Neroli Portofino.  This is everything I wore that day as well, and I also brought a couple of travel makeup brushes, not pictured.  Typically, I don't pack foundation, eyeshadows or mascaras daily, but for weddings, you may need it to touch up after the waterworks!  Plus, in an almost-100-degree-weather, be prepared for a meltdown!

I have grown to love MAC Hocus Pocus, and may be my favorite for a simple smokey eye.  It also paired wonderfully with MAC Wolf Pearlglide, probably one of my favorite eyeliners of all time, too bad it's discontinued so I use it sparingly.  This liner went in my waterline and on the lower lash line.  I wore Hocus Pocus over a black base (Clinique gel liner) no higher than the crease, then blended the eyeshadow all the way up to the brow bone.  Add a neutral highlight and that's it!

(L-R) MAC Hocus Pocus over a black base, Hocus Pocus no base, and MAC Pearlglide in Wolf.  I just love how simple you can make a smokey eye with these.

For my nail polishes I wore Essie Tie the Knot as a manicure and Essie Sole Mate for my toes.  Tie the Knot is a great nude color for that mannequin-hands look.

It's funny because I realized after applying these colors that it would be the most appropriate nail polish (names) for the occasion, and no, I didn't plan it that way.

Here's the dress I wore,  a black Calvin Klein cocktail dress.  I love the cascading pleats on this dress.  So simple yet enough to make a statement.  I also wore a black patent snakeskin belt to cinch the waist line, and this belt complements the shoes I wore as well.

I love how this skinny belt just happen to match the shoes..

I went for a pair of summery sandals.. Snakeskin and patent combo with wooden heels, by Via Spiga.  I've had this in  my closet for the longest time and it's one of the most comfortable shoes I own despite the heel height.  I went for a neutral handbag, a vintage Chanel just to pick up the neutral shades in the shoes.

I love weddings.. even though I cry as soon as I hear the tune of the "Wedding March".  My husband and I are thinking of renewing our vows sometime in the future, but unlike most American weddings that prefer the summer months, mine would definitely be in the colder season.. less makeup meltdown right?

As soon as I find a flattering photo with the outfit, etc.. I'll post it  :)
