Chanel UV Essentiel has a very light and runny texture.  I can only compare it to La Mer "The SPF 30 UV Protecting Fluid" as far as texture goes, as that is the only other sunscreen I have tried with similar texture.  It goes on smoothly and blends easily and soaks up fast on the skin.  This has a very slight mattifying effect, so if you have very oily skin, I think you are better off with most of the Shiseido sunscreens, which I found have great oil control.

I found that this sunscreen did not enhance any dry patches on my skin, which is great.  It also wore well under makeup, thus making it a good foundation base in my opinion.  It has a light scent, which isn't offensive, and I didn't find that it left a strong sunscreen scent either.  I also like that this is oil-free and contains licorice root extract, which claims to diminish and prevent dark spots from sun damage -- I may be able to benefit from this ingredient in the long run.

Bottom line, if you're looking for a great everyday sunscreen that's lightweight and wears well under makeup, give this a go.  It is not as mattifying like say, Shiseido sunscreens, but I did feel that this is more comfortable for me to wear.  It also did not make me breakout which is a huge plus in my book.  As far as value goes, you only get 1 oz. for $52 which could be a deal-breaker for most.
